Jimmy McGovern’s Time
Excellent 3 part drama, all now on iPlayer. Both Sean Bean and Stephen Graham are superb. Considering the main tv channels have cleared their schedules for the footy, this is a diamond in the shite.

Re: Jimmy McGovern’s Time
The Stephen Graham character would have been advised to plead not guilty to the drugs charges and to run a defence of duress. He would stand a good chance of acquittal because informing the police and prison authorities would not, at least to his considerable knowledge, have protected his son. Apart from that, the drama was believable and compelling.

Re: Jimmy McGovern’s Time
It was really good and wasn’t dragged out too long either. I’m not Sean Bean fan either, but he played that roll well, suited him not being the hard man for once.
Shrewsbury prison is open to the public, you can even book one of those cells and spend the night there, if you fancy it.

Only the Brits can dish out this kind of brilliant TV. Even Bean was exceptional and I can't stand the cunt.

Re: Jimmy McGovern’s Time
I thought it was really good brings home the harsh reality of being banged up. Strange seeing Sean Bean playing a wimp as he always plays the hard man. Stephan Graham was excellent as always, what a situation to be in having a son in Prison and being a Prison Officer

Re: Jimmy McGovern’s Time
I was probably a little harsh with my previous reviews of it as it was good and thought the 3rd episode was a good ending.

It was filmed in Shrewsbury prison which closed in 2013.

They should've let us know if the Irish bloke got parole though.

The acting was excellent all round.
James McArdle is very good at quiet menacing.

Just watched all 3 episodes back to back.

Fucking great bit of telly.

Bean and Graham both magnificent.

Yeah, the final scene on the pier was nonsence and spoiled the whole story

ERN - Yea, that's what I said further down, it's decent with good acting but nothing new here, at all.

Typical mcgovern so many boring stereotypes, great acting from a shit very predictable script

Re: Jimmy McGovern’s Time
I thought it was a superb piece of work.

McGovern remains one of the best telly writers around. Distils difficult and challenging material/themes into compulsive viewing.

SPOILER ALERT!

The only scene I wasn't so keen on, was the very final scene on the pier. It was moving, but I felt that it would have been a little more realistic for her not to have wanted to see him. The fact that she did felt like a bit of a sop to BBC drama queens who probably felt it was too bleak otherwise. I've had meetings with some of the BBC's drama chiefs. It really is like W1A.

Stephen Graham is a very good actor.

He's not my favourite actor of all time. My favourite actor of all time is Mr. Sidney Poitier

Re: Jimmy McGovern’s Time
thought it was pretty good. there were a few side stories which didnt go anywhere though, which was annoying. personally, i reckon they could have dragged it out to 6 episodes

Re: Jimmy McGovern’s Time
Watched all three last night. Pretty decent I thought. Never been a Sean Bean fan but thought he was pretty good in his portrayal and Graham IMO always solid good actor.
